CARTON DONOFRIO PARTNERS RECEIVES TOP HONORS WITH TWO BEST OF SHOW ADDY AWARDS

Agency Also Wins 15 Gold and Silver ADDYs

Carton Donofrio Partners, an integrated advertising agency in Baltimore, today announced that the firm received two Best of Show ADDY awards and 15 gold and silver ADDYs at the Advertising Association of Baltimore’s annual awards ceremony last week.

Carton Donofrio Partners won the Best of Show award in the interactive category for the online portion of its integrated campaign developed for the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The full campaign includes several tongue-in-cheek ads that position the GMAT and enrollment into business school as ways to control your destiny. The campaign utilized wild postings on college campuses, 30-second online commercials and original content on MTVu and Tun TV and a Web site, directyourdestiny.org. Other components of the campaign included: ”weenerize your friend” where users could place their friend’s face on an image representing a humiliating job and share it via various social media platforms, online flash and video banners, and email reminders from a nagging mom-type character.

The firm also received a Best of Show ADDY award for a project on behalf of Worldwide Partners, the largest international network of owner-operated advertising and marketing agencies. Carton Donofrio Partners was instrumental in bringing the Worldwide Partners’ annual meeting to Charm City in 2009. Carton Donofrio Partners is one of 90 independent agencies around the world that make up the network. As the host agency, Carton Donofrio Partners developed a guide that provided visitors with off the beaten path options for dining, shopping and sightseeing in Baltimore. The guide also contained quirky and unusual places in the city as well as stories about Baltimoreans who have made creative contributions to society. This helped deliver on the idea that Baltimore is an unexpected incubator of creativity in a diverse range of fields – music, literature, architecture, film, television, medicine, business and technology. 

“It is fantastic to see our work recognized by our peers in Baltimore,” said Chuck Donofrio, chief executive officer of Carton Donofrio Partners. “We’re excited for the next stage of the competition and believe we have some stand out work that will be recognized on a national level. I am also delighted that work led by David Smith, our new executive creative director, is being acknowledged by the local advertising community.”

The ADDY awards program celebrates the best creative work on a local, regional and national level.  All Baltimore gold winners are automatically entered into a district competition, where they will compete against work from other agencies in New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
